Dozens of employees at EY have been dismissed for watching multiple training videos simultaneously so as to meet quotas, with the firm deeming this to be an ethical breach. The firings occurred after EY tightened its policies following a $100m fine from the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission in 2022 for previous infractions. While EY in the U.S. said disciplinary action was taken against a small number of individuals violating the global code of conduct, EY in the U.K. said it would take disciplinary action against staff found to be in breach of the code, noting that it has safeguards in place to monitor this.
